KOREA WAR
The substantial establishment of the Korean and Turkish relations dates back to a historical war. The Korean War started in 1950 and ended in 1953. During this period, the Turkish soldiers who are among the allies of the NATO closed the war with many losses. This fight put up by the Turkish Republic for the Democratic Korea is never forgotten by the Korean community. This heroic story created by the Turkish Soldiers is also discussed in the course books. The Koreans who have made Turkish people a part of their cultures welcome the Turkish people who would once again visit their countries for another purpose.
2002 WORLD CUP
2002 World Cup is remembered not with the champion team but as the tournament which was ended with the friendship between the teams who ranked 3rd and 4th in the cup. The Turkish and Korean National football teams which advanced to semi final but could not qualify for final match. In the consolation match, The Koreans who were in the tribune, prepared a surprise for the Turkish people. They prepared a special welcome for the Turkish National Team in memory of the Turkish soldiers who fought many year ago for their independence. They were delighted when the Turkish team scored a goal such as their team had scored it. At the end of the match, players of both teams saluted the spectators in the tribune hand in hand. While the history records this incident, the FIFA, which manages the world football, had waived discussing whether to play consolation matches in the world cups or not.
